STDs

Q: Can pouring bleach or lemon juice on a guys penis or a girl’s vagina kill STDs?

Answer: NO!!!! But it sure would hurt a lot and sting.

Q: Can you catch an STD from oral sex?

Answer: Yes, absolutely. You can get Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Herpes AND HPV (warts) from oral sex. AND Herpes and HPV NEVER go away; the virus stays in your system, even if you don't have an out break.

Q: Can you get more than one STD at a time?

Answer: Yes, you could have all of them at the same time...ouch!

Q: Will condoms protect me from all STDs?

Answer: Condoms may not protect you from Herpes and HPV (warts) if they aren’t covered by the latex of the condom, like the guy’s scrotum and testes, the top of the thighs and her vulva area (the girl's whole genital area).

Q: Can you get an STD from anal sex?

Answer: You can get any STD from anal sex (sex in the butt hole) and can get all of them more easily because the anal skin is thinner, plus there is no natural lubrication in the anus making the anal skin easier to tear. That makes it very easy for the STDs to get inside the body faster. For people who engage in anal sex it is very important to use a water-based lubrication with a condom.

Q: Are all STDs curable?

Answer: No! Only chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis can be cured, NOT Herpes, HPV (warts) or HIV.

Q: Do all STDs have symptoms?

Answer: No, often there are no symptoms with chlamydia & gonorrhea, so people may have them and not know it. Sometimes HPV (warts) aren’t visible to the eye and herpes outbreaks may not be noticed.

Q: Can you catch an STD any other way than having sex?

Answer: Well...not usually, except: 1) Herpes; you can get herpes from kissing someone who has an outbreak on their lips, sharing lipstick or lip balm; 2) HIV; you can get HIV from breast milk, blood to blood contact like fighting, sharing needles for piercing, tattooing or to inject drugs or steroids, and tattooing with used needles. 3) Genital warts can be spread if someone who has genital warts wiped their genital area on a towel and right after that another person uses that towel to wipe their genital area.

Q: Do birth control pills prevent STDs?

Answer: NEVER!!! Birth control pills, the three month shot (Depo), the once a month shot (Lunelle), the Patch (Ortho Evra) and the Ring (Nuvaring) only prevent pregnancy, NOT STDs!!!

Q: Can you get the same STD again?

Answer: Yes, you can get STDs over and over and over again. There is more than one strain of HIV, so you could be infected with other strains of HIV. There are two types of herpes and many many types of HPV (warts). That means you could be infected with many types of the same STD.
